Pulsed shortwave treatment in women with knee osteoarthritis
Physical Therapy; 2011; 91(7):1009-1017121 elderly women with osteoarthritis (OA) were randomized to receive either no treatment, placebo, low-dose pulsed shortwave (PSW), or high-dose PSW for their condition. The 1-year results of the study indicated that both low-dose and high-dose PSW had beneficial long term effects in women with OA; however, no significant differences were found between the two groups. Some of the beneficial effects included reduced pain, improved function, and higher quality of life.
