90 patients scheduled for revision total knee arthroplasty (TKA) were randomized to determine the effect of two different joint exposure techniques on functional outcome and postoperative morbidity. Participants were allocated to receive either the quadriceps snip (QS) or tibial tubercle osteotomy (TTO) exposure techniques, and were followed postoperatively for a minimum of 8 years. Results at final follow-up indicated that although reinfection rates were similar between groups, those who received the TTO techniques had significantly greater functional recovery as shown in knee society scores and range of motion.
