ISAKOS: Achilles tendon rupture: No increase in re-rupture in non-operative treatment
12 studies evaluating a total of 1074 patients suffering from acute Achilles tendon ruptures were included in this analysis, comparing operative and non-operative treatment. Results indicated there is no increase in the incidence of re-rupture with non-operative treatment. In addition, it was also noted that the use of functional walking boots provided better results than closed casts following trauma.
