Recurrent Patellar Instability: A comparison between two surgical interventions
Arthroscopy. 2013 May;29(5):891-7. doi: 10.1016/j.arthro.2013.01.030. Epub 2013 Apr 670 patients with recurrent patellar instability were randomized to undergo either medial retinaculum plasty (MRP) or medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction (MPFLR), both performed with concomitant lateral retinacular release. A mean follow up of 40 months, comparing functional and clinical results, demonstrated that MRP corrected congruence angle, patellar tilt angle, and patellar lateral shift, as well as improved functional and subjective Kujuala and Tegner scores similarly to MPFLR group.
