Platelet-rich plasma treatment in chronic Achilles tendinopathy
Am J Sports Med. 2011 Aug;39(8):1623-9

54 patients of a broad age range with chronic Achilles tendinopathy were randomized to receive either a platelet-rich plasma injection or saline (placebo). The results of 1 year follow-up indicated that both groups displayed no significant differences in Victorian Institute of Sports Assessment-Achilles scores or ultrasonographic tendon structure. Additionally, majority of patients in both groups were satisfied with the treatment.
