One hundred women with osteoporosis were evaluated to compare the efficacy of teriparatide, denosumab, or combined treatment of both drugs on spinal, femoral, and hip bone mineral density (BMD) at 12 months. They were randomized either to daily 20 ug teriparatide daily, 60 mg denosumab every 6 months, or both. At the final follow up, the combination group had increased significantly in posterioranterior lumbar, femoral-neck, and total-hip BMD compared to denosumab and teriparatide treatments alone.
