The Effect of Lace-up Ankle Braces on Injury Rates in High School Basketball Players

1460 male and female basketball players were randomized to receive either ankle braces or control (no ankle brace). The results of the study indicated that athletes assigned to the ankle brace group displayed a significantly lower rate of acute ankle injuries in comparison to control. However, it was found that the severity of the ankle injuries were similar in both groups.
