Total disc replacement is an effective treatment for bi-level degenerative disc disease
J Bone Joint Surg Am. 2011 Apr 20;93(8):705-15. Epub 2011 Mar 11.

237 patients were randomized to undergo total disc arthroplasty or circumferential arthrodesis. Despite the relatively short duration of follow-up, the two-level lumbar disc arthroplasty has been found to be an effective alternative to arthrodesis and offered clinical advantages in terms of pain relief and functional recovery.
