Tai Chi is an effective intervention for the prevention of falls in frail older adults

152 frail older adults who were admitted to a day hospital program (DHP) for a recent fall problem were randomly assigned into two different fall prevention groups: A Tai Chi group, or a physical therapy group. The results showed that both forms of treatment were effective in preventing falls in older adults, with the Tai Chi group showing a greater protective effect on falls than conventional physical therapy exercises at 12 months.
