50 individuals were randomized to determine the efficacy of magnetic knee wraps (MKW) in the treatment of mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis, specifically examining its affect on proprioception. Participants were allocated to receive treatment with an active device, consisting of 35-mT magnetic fields, or to sham treatment of under 0.05-mT magnetic fields. The mean absolute error of trials used to measure joint position sense was the primary outcome. The results indicated that after 12 weeks of use, the active MKWs did not significantly improve joint position sense compared to the sham treatment.
