125 patients, between 20 and 55 years of age, who were diagnosed with ACL rupture, were randomly assigned into 1 of 3 groups to test the efficacy of three types of incisions on hamstring graft harvesting. The three types of incisions made were vertical, horizontal, and oblique. Results indicated that participants who received an oblique incision for harvesting of the hamstring graft experienced a lower incidence of infrapatellar branch injuries and sensory loss than those in the vertical incision group. Results between the horizontal and oblique incisions were comparable in all outcomes, but were numerically better (in all cases) in the oblique incision group.
