OTA 2013: Complex regional pain syndrome treated with pain exposure physical therapy

58 patients with complex regional pain syndrome type 1 (CRPS-1) were enrolled in this study to determine the effectiveness of pain exposure physical therapy (PEPT) compared to conventional forms of treatment. The results suggested that PEPT is an effective treatment that produced superior results in CRPS-1 Impairment level Sum Score, pain and disability nine months after treatment.
