Platelet rich plasma reduced retear rates in large rotator cuff repairs
Am J Sports Med. 2013 Oct;41(10):2240-848 patients with large to massive rotator cuff tears and who underwent surgical repair were included in this study to determine whether platelet rich plasma (PRP) can be integrated into operational procedures as a method of reducing retears. Patients underwent arthroscopic repair using a suture bridge technique whenever possible with or without the addition of PRP. Retear rates were reduced with PRP, yet this had no effect on clinical or functional outcomes in patients at one year.
