22 healthy volunteer participants, who ran at least twice a week and exhibited restricted active ankle dorsiflexion with one or more latent myofascial trigger points, underwent myofascial trigger point therapy to determine its effectiveness on ankle range of motion in runners. Ankle range of motion was assessed under both knee flexion (soleus) and extension (gastrocnemius). The results suggest that both soleus and gastrocnemius ankle dorsiflexion range of motion can be improved after a single sessions of myofascial trigger point therapy.
