Physical therapist-administered group-based exercise: effective fall prevention treatment
J Geriatr Phys Ther. 2013 Oct-Dec;36(4):182-9310 RCTs or clinical trials comparing physical therapist-developed or supervised group exercise to a control with no intervention or a traditional individual physiotherapy intervention were analyzed in this systematic review investigating fall prevention, in terms of patient outcomes. Results that were summarized within this review indicated that group based-exercise is an effective way to prevent falls, enhance quality of life, and improve balance in older adults. However, when the clinical outcomes of group-based exercise are compared to physical therapist home interventions, results are comparable.
