A secondary analysis was performed using data from a randomized controlled trial (RCT) comparing the efficacy of physical therapy-based interventions for 131 patients with hip osteoarthritis. Patients were randomized into three groups: exercise and manual therapy, exercise therapy alone, or a control group. Potential predictors of treatment response, based on OMERACT/OARSI responder criteria, were identified based on patient characteristics. At the 9 week follow-up, 4 predictors variables were found, but with only fair prognostic accuracy. Moreover, none were found at 18 weeks. The present study was unable to determine accurate predictors of positive treatment response.
