Improvement in LBP and quality of life with Pilates in patients with HTLV-1 virus

22 patients with chronic low back pain associated with human T-lymphotropic virus type 1 were randomized in this crossover study to determine the effect of Pilate method intervention. Participants were allocated to treatment through 15 weeks of Pilates followed by 15 weeks of control intervention (normal activity), or vice versa. The results indicated that 15 weeks of Pilates reduced pain and improved quality of life in this patient population.
