AAOS: Highly-porous-metal tibial components appear durable & reliable 5 years after TKA

389 patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA) were randomized to one of three groups: an uncemented highly-porous-metal tibial component group, a cemented highly-porous tibial component group, or a cemented traditional tibial component group. The purpose of this study was to compare the reliability and durability between treatment groups. Upon analysis, highly-porous-metal tibial components appeared similar in durability and reliability compared to traditional cemented tibial components, and did not require revision for aseptic loosening.
