WCO-IOF: Better outcome with hydrotherapy vs. conventional exercise after hip arthroplasty

58 patients who underwent recent hip arthroplasty were randomized to postoperative rehabilitation involving either hydrotherapy or conventional exercise for 12 days. This study aimed to compare functional outcome between the two rehabilitation modalities following discharge from the program and at 6-month follow-up. Results indicated improvements in all WOMAC subscales (pain, stiffness, and function) in both groups, with improvements more significant in the hydrotherapy group. Additionally, benefits at discharge were retained at 6 months.
