100 patients undergoing rotator cuff repair were randomized to complete a rehabilitation program with 4 or 8 weeks of immobilization after surgery. The purpose of this study was to compare retear rates and short-term clinical outcomes between treatment groups. While significantly more patients in the 8 week immobilization group experienced stiffness at 24 months, postoperative retear rates, range of motion, clinical scores, and MRI measurements were similar regardless of the duration of immobilization.
