90 patients suffering from subacute or chronic mechanical neck disorder (MND) without neurological damage were randomized to receive either manual therapy (MT) or transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) over a 6 month period. The results presented in this study revealed no significant differences between treatment groups in terms of pain, disability, quality of life, adverse effects, or sociodemographics and prognosis. Each treatment demonstrated similar pain relief with more than half of patients receiving either intervention exhibiting clinically relevant short-term benefits while a third of treated patients reported benefits at 6 months.
