ACLR: Quadriceps tendon autograft offers less donor-site morbidity than patellar tendon
Arthroscopy. 2014 May;30(5):593-8. doi: 10.1016/j.arthro.2014.01.012. Epub 2014 Mar 1451 patients with anterior cruciate ligament and scheduled for reconstruction surgery were randomized to receive either a quadriceps tendon-bone autograft or a bone-patellar tendon-bone autograft. The purpose of this study was to compare stability and donor-site morbidity associated with the two graft choices. Results after 2 years indicated similar side-to-side laxity between the two grafts, although the quadriceps tendon graft was demonstrated to be associated with significantly better outcome in kneeling pain, graft site pain, and tibial sensitivity loss. Scoring on clinical measures was significantly improved within both groups, and similar between groups at 1 and 2 years.
