Hydrotherapy: An effective treatment option in the management of knee OA

64 patients with OA of the knee were randomly assigned to undergo water or land based exercise programs for 18 weeks. At the 9 week and 18 week observations, both treatments led to symptomatic improvement from the baseline. The hydrotherapy demonstrated superior, but statistically insignificant results compared to the land based therapy, except for a statistically significant improvement in relieving pain before and after walking at 18 weeks.
