25 randomized controlled trials were included in this review and meta-analysis investigating the effect of physical exercise interventions on sports injury prevention. Along with the risk ratio of overall effect for intervention, subgroup analyses were performed based on type of intervention (strength, proprioception, or stretching exercises). Outcome was also differentiated for acute and overuse injuries. Overall, there was a significant effect of intervention. Upon subgroup analysis, it was revealed that there was a significant effect from strength training, proprioceptive exercises, or combined intervention, but not from stretching exercises.
