Data from 8 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) investigating 2,508 patients were pooled to evaluate the effect of bisphosphonates on bone healing. Short- and long-term healing, and delayed fracture and nonunion data were analyzed along with other relevant outcomes. The evidence presented in this meta-analysis indicated that bisphosphonate treatment did not affect short- or long-term healing, delayed bone healing, and nonunion. Timing of zoledronic acid infusion did not affect bone healing.
