Cementless/screw fixation vs. cemented fixation of tibial component in young TKA patients

93 younger patients (ie <55 years) undergoing primary total knee arthroplasty were randomized to either cemented or cementless fixation of the tibial component. In cementless fixation, screw augmentation was used. Patients were followed for an average of 7 years postoperatively for clinical and radiological outcome. Cementless fixation was observed to improve clinical outcome compared to cemented fixation, while radiological outcome and implant survivorship was similar between groups.
