100 patients underwent bilateral sequential total knee replacement surgery. The surgical procedure for the first knee used a CT-free computer-assisted navigation system and the second knee used a conventional no-navigation procedure. Outcomes of accuracy of orientation and alignment of the components were assessed. Results at the mean 2.6-year follow-up indicated that the computer-navigated TKR procedure did not result in a more accurate orientation or alignment of components when compared to the conventional non-navigated procedure.
