Hyaluronic acid did not yield superior outcomes for hip osteoarthritis
Arthritis Rheum. 2009 Mar;60(3):824-3085 patients with symptomatic hip osteoarthritis (OA) were randomized to either receive a single fluoroscopically guided injection of hyaluronic acid (HA) or a matching placebo. The purpose was to determine the efficacy and tolerability of a single hyaluronic acid injection in treating patients with hip OA over a 3 month period. There was no significant difference in pain, stiffness, disability, medication usage, and adverse events between groups.
