Thirty patients undergoing upper limb othropedic surgery were randomized to receive a stellate ganglion block injection of either lidocaine or saline. This randomized controlled trial aimed to determine the analgesic effect of a pre-operative stellate ganglion block on postoperative pain relief following orthopaedic surgery on the upper limb. Pre-operative stellate ganglion block with 2% lidocaine administration reduced cumulative tramadol consumption over 24 hours and had an analgesic effect in patients who underwent orthopaedic surgery on the upper limb.
