OTA 2014: Comparable outcomes for plate and pin fixation for dislocated clavicle fracture

120 adult patients with a dislocated midshaft clavicle fracture were randomly assigned to undergo surgical intervention via plate fixation or intramedullary nailing. Shoulder function was assessed pre- and post-operatively, with final follow-up at 12 months after surgery. Findings reported similar outcomes between both treatment groups, with no significant differences in DASH and Constant-Murley scores at 6 months. The incidence of complications was also comparable between groups, with the majority being implant-related.
