Seventy-eight patients scheduled for total knee arthroplasty were randomized to receive either intra-articular or intravenous administration of tranexamic acid to evaluate comparative efficacy between the two types. Transfusion rate, blood loss, and the incidence of thomboembolic complications were assessed perioperatively. Results demonstrated no significant differences between groups in any outcome measure, suggesting similar efficacy.
