No short-term benefit of PRP in arthroscopic rotator cuff repair
Sports Health. 2015 Jan;7(1):58-66

25 patients with a rotator cuff tear <3cm, undergoing arthroscopic repair were randomized to one of two groups; a platelet rich plasma (PRP) group, which received intraoperative application of PRP along the repair site and a PRP injection at 4 weeks postoperatively, or a control group which received saline in a similar manner. Patients were followed up at 2, 4, and 6 weeks after surgery for pain, general and condition-specific quality of life, and disability. There were no significant differences between groups detected for change from baseline to 6 weeks in any outcome measure, and study enrollment was stopped early due to perceived lack of efficacy.
