8 randomized controlled trials were included in this meta-analysis evaluating the efficacy of platelet-rich plasma on patients undergoing arthroscopic full-thickness rotator cuff repair. Rate of retear, incidence of complications and functional outcomes, including pain, strength and range of motion were assessed. The results of this analysis demonstrated no apparent benefit of platelet-rich plasma in this patient population as evidenced by the similarity in functional outcomes scores and the incidence of retears.
