76 patients from a working compensation population with Robinson Classification 2B1 and 2B2 displaced midshaft clavicular fractures were randomized to receive conservative treatment or surgical management with open reduction and internal fixation. It was found that surgical intervention had significantly better results than conservative treatment for complete return to work, functional score, and union rate.
