31 randomized control trials (RCT) comparing total blood loss (TBL) and transfusion rates in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA) were included. The meta- analysis found that while both intravenous (IV)and intraarticular (IA) tranexamic acid (TXA)significantly reduced TBL and the incidence of blood transfusions, the two methods did not differ in the total blood loss reduction. Additionally, no significant difference was seen in the occurrence of thromboembolic events resulting from IV administration in comparison to IA administration.
