Effect of PRGF application on donor-site healing following BPTB ACL reconstruction
Knee Surg Sports Traumatol Arthrosc. 2015 Apr;23(4):991-7

43 patients undergoing anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction with a bone-patellar tendon-bone autograft were randomized to have the surgery completed with or without the application of plasma rich growth factors (PRGF) at the donor-site following skin closure. The purpose of this study was to compare rate of donor-site repair with and without PRGF application, assessed using ultrasonography at 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, and 12 months postoperatively. The findings illustrated a significantly higher rate of donor-site healing at 4-months follow-up in the PRGF group compared to the control group, but no differences were seen at any other follow-up times.
