Whole Body Vibration training may be beneficial to some aspects of postural control
Gait Posture. 2007 Jul;26(2):309-16. Epub 2006 Oct 30220 elderly individuals were randomly assigned to receive either Whole Body Vibration (WBV) therapy, routine fitness (FIT), or a control. Patients were monitored over 12 months and evaluated based on the Sensory Organization Test, Motor Control Test and Adaptation Test using a computerized dynamic posturography platform. The results indicated that WBV enhanced several aspects of postural control, as evaluated by the Sensory Organization Test and Adaptation test. Assessment using the Motor Control Test revealed no significant benefits associated with WBV.
