Fracture risk reduction with multivitamin and mineral supplementation only seen in males
J Bone Miner Metab. 2015 May;33(3):294-302

A total of 3,318 participants were randomized to take a daily supplementation tablet with 26 vitamins and minerals, or a placebo pill for six years. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of multivitamin and mineral supplementation on fracture incidence. The supplementation intervention took place from May 1985 to April 1991, with a 16-year post-intervention follow-up period until 2007. Findings after six years follow-up showed a significant reduction in fracture incidence in males, although this significant reduction was not shown in females.
