ISAKOS 2015: Minor complications and time to return to work reduced with ECTR vs. OCTR

27 studies were included in a meta-analysis comparing open carpal tunnel release (OCTR) and endoscopic carpal tunnel reduction (ECTR). The purpose of this study was to shed light on the comparative safety of the alternate ECTR method with the conventional OCTR for carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). Results demonstrated that ECTR had a faster return to work by 10 days and a lower minor complication rate. No significant differences were observed for major complication rate, recurrence rate, and reoperation rate.
