COA 2015: Early mobilization and standard immobilization similar in rotator cuff repair

189 patients were randomized to receive early mobilization or standard 6-week immobilization of the shoulder following a mini-open rotator cuff repair. The goal of this study was to determine if early motion helped patients to reduce problems associated with delayed range of motion (ROM). Results only found significant difference for shoulder ROM at 6 weeks postoperatively. No significant difference was found at 3, 6, 12, 18, or 24 months for ROM, abduction strength, or health-related quality of life.
