96 adolescent patients with idiopathic scoliosis were randomly allocated to Paper/Paper, Paper/Internet, Internet/Paper, or Internet/Internet groups in terms of administration modalities for the Scoliosis Patient Questionnaire: Version 30 (SRS-30) and the Pediatric Outcomes Data Collection Instrument (PODCI). Patients were initially administered the first mode as per their group allocation, and then two weeks later administered the second mode. The purpose of the study was to determine the reliability and validity of internet administration in comparison to a paper format. Return rates and results were comparable between and within groups, and demonstrated reliability and validity of internet administration. Additionally, the majority of the patients in the Paper/Internet and Internet/Paper groups reported preferring internet administration. The majority of late returned questionnaires were in the paper format.
