COA 2015: Patients more satisfied with oral aspirin for post TKA DVT vs. injected therapy
96 patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA) were randomized to receive a 2 week protocol of either oral aspirin or injected low molecular weight heparin for postoperative deep vein thrombosis (DVT) prevention, in order to determine patient satisfaction. Findings indicated that in addition to being the preferred and more satisfying treatment, the aspirin protocol also resulted in fewer complications.
