ARTHROPLASTY
No clinical advantage of high-flexion versus standard prostheses in TKA
J Arthroplasty. 2015 Jun;30(6):980-617 randomized controlled trials analyzing patients who underwent total knee arthroplasty with a high-flexion versus standard prosthesis were included in this meta-analysis. The purpose of the study was to determine if high-flexion prostheses increase the range of motion in the knee and provide superior clinical outcomes as compared to standard prostheses. No significant differences were found in terms of range of motion, weight-bearing flexion, clinical outcomes and most complications. However, the high-flexion group was found to have a higher incidence of deep venous thrombosis.
