Age Ageing. 2015 Jul;44(4):573-9

319 elderly participants were randomized into a home-based exercise (Otago Exercise Programme), community-based exercise (Falls Management Exercise) or usual care group. The purpose of the study was to determine how effective these two fall prevention programs were in terms of increasing bone mineral density (BMD) after 6 months of treatment, compared to patients receiving usual care. Results indicated that femoral neck bone mineral density, structural parameters, and bone mineral density at other sites did not differ in either treatment method as compared to the usual care group after 6 month follow-up.
