Thromboprophylaxis with enoxaparin for 20 days postdischarge reduced incidence of DVT
Arthroscopy. 2007 Jul;23(7):696-702175 patients who have undergone arthroscopic ACL surgery and had been administered enoxaparin starting 12-18 hours post-op until 3-8 days post-op in the hospital, were randomized to either self-administer enoxaparin for 20 additional days postdischarge, or self-administer a placebo for 20 days postdischarge. The results indicated that postdischarge throbmoprophylaxis for an extended period of 20 days resulted in reduced incidence of DVT, compared to thromboprophylaxis in-hospital for only 3-8 days.
