74 female office workers were randomized to the CORE program, an exercise program that focuses on lumbar stability, or to a control group. This study was undertaken to determine the efficacy of the CORE program for females with chronic low back pain. Pain intensity at rest, pain intensity during movement, pain pressure threshold, active range of motion (ROM), and proprioception deficits were measured over a two month follow-up period following completion of the CORE program. The results of this study indicate that the CORE exercise program is an effective method for pain relief, improvement in active ROM, and improvement of trunk proprioception in female workers with chronic low back pain.
