Achilles tendon rupture: Comparing the 1-year results of surgical vs nonsurgical treatment
Am J Sports Med. 2010 Nov;38(11):2186-93.

97 patients with acute Achilles tendon rupture were randomized to have their injury treated either surgically or nonsurgically within 72 hours of the injury. A standardized rehabilitation was followed in all patients. The results with 12 month follow-up did not show a statistically significant difference between the two groups in re-rupture rates, clinical examinations, and functional scores.
