Operative management superior to conservative methods in midshaft clavicle fracture
Clinics (Sao Paulo). 2015 Aug;70(8):584-9213 studies (9 randomized controlled trials and 4 quasi-RCTS) with a total of 959 patients were included in this meta-analysis. The purpose of the study was to compare clinical and radiographic outcome measures between operative and nonoperative treatment of displaced midshaft clavicle fractures. The results indicated that operative management resulted in significantly lower nonunion and symptomatic malunion rates, had more favourable Constant and DASH scores, and had a lower incidence of neurological symptoms.
