Plantar Fascia Stretching versus shock-wave therapy for treatment of plantar fascitis

102 patients with acute plantar fasciopathy were assigned to receive either an eight week program of plantar fascia-specific stretching or low-energy radial shock-wave therapy. At 15 months of follow-up, no significant differences were observed between the two groups in terms of pain and function. However, better outcomes were observed with the plantar fascia specific stretching for up to four months after starting the treatment.
