Application of PRP for augmentation of arthroscopic rotator cuff repair
Am J Sports Med. 2015 Sep;43(9):2102-1074 patients undergoing arthroscopic rotator cuff repair were randomized to undergo the procedure with or without the application of platelet-rich plasma during surgery. Outcomes included functional scores and pain scores, along with imaging of repair integrity and cross-sectional area of the supraspinatus muscle. Follow-up was performed for over 1 year postoperatively. Results demonstrated no significant differences between groups in patient-reported functional outcomes or pain values. However, a significantly lower retear rate was observed in the PRP group compared to the control group.
